Over one billion people live in informal settlements on the frontline of climate change. Despite their vulnerability, public and private finance rarely reaches these communities, leaving them to rely on their own and community resources to cope and adapt.

This session will spotlight innovative pathways to unlock finance for resilience in informal settings with lived experiences and action-oriented initiatives, including the Roof Over Our Head Campaign, RISE – Innovation Challenge for Urban Informality, and the Resilient Planet Initiative.

It will also highlight the efforts under the UNFCCC Marrakech Partnership for Global Climate Action working group to mobilise collective action to empower people living and working in informal economies.
